David Bywaters Player Appraisal - Wolves Home
Posted by southstander on June 04 2007 - 07:03:54

Davids MoM
by David Bywater

After a couple of season off, we've once again asked Davidbyw to cast his eye over the Rhinos performances of the weekend and pass numerical judgement on the players.

Bound to be controversial, and to spark debate on the message boards, we'll keep tabs over the season and see if Davids appraisal of player of the season tallies with your Man-of-the-match votes.

Read more here....

Here are Davids thoughts about Fridays game against the Wolves at HQ;

No.NameScoreAnalysis
1Webb9My MOM - another quality performance his link with McGuire could see Brent finish leading try scorer in SL this year. Just needs to improve his own passing especially to Donald.
2Donald8Another solid game - great interplay for McGuire's try. Looks more at ease with every game and is beginning to show some neat foot work.
3Toopi7 Did little wrong in the game Clinton is beginning to build his confidence.
5Senior7Everytime I see Keith these days I can't help thinking what a great player he once was - unfortunately with no alternatives Keith's move into the forwards cannnot happen. Took his try well and contributed much to the win.
20Smith6Not Lee's best game - he was also unlucky to come against what must be the fastest player in SL. Tony needs to decide if Lee is the real deal and if so give him 6-10 games to prove it.
6McGuire8Three assists - four if you count the tackle on Riley that lead to the try - and a try himself. Not bad for a player who cannot pass!!
7Burrow7Quieter than normal - he provides a very good link in the middle of the field which can be easily overlooked.
16Bailey7Unspectacular - a typical Bailey performance - how can such a huge player have so little impact ball in hand?.
13Sinfield9Top quality performance a close thing for MOM with Webb - he gives much to No 9 position not least his distribution and link with the half backs.
10Peacock7Limited effect on the game - seems to always take the ball standing still - this seems to be the norm for most of Peacock's performances this season.
11Jones Buchannan8The usual high tempo display from JJ Bin Laden - please have a shave Jamie. His enthusiasm makes him worth his place regardless of anything else he may contribute
12Ellis8Marked improvement on Gareth's last 2/3 games - reverted back to his solid non nonsense best.
18Kirke8Very good indeed - ran the ball with real gusto - his defence was very solid too - hopefully he will get a run in the side now.
22Ablett7Very unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet - accomplished performance that justified his inclusion like Kirke deserves a run in the side. Carl's score reflects his limited game time.
15Thackray7Jamie continues to be our most consistent prop - never stops when he is on the field - pity Bailey and Kylie are seemingly unable to follow suit.
8Leuluai6His only contribution in the first half was to drop the ball in the tackle that lead to Warrington scoring on the verge of half time. The second half wasn't a lot better - is this really the best Leeds can do?
23Tansey8Vibrant impact player with no little skill - another 40/20 - gives proceding a lift when he enters the game.
